„Ohhh, a spring fair,“ Casey said, pointing at the illuminated carousels and booths at the roadside. „Reminds me of the small one I visited with my grandfather when I was still a toddler. I couldn't get enough of the old carousel with the wooden horses. And I had so much candy cotton that I was totally psyched out half of the night later.“ He chuckled. „My mom wasn't amused, but I have had the fun of my life.“
Zeke smiled. „We could have a break. Stay overnight at the motel some miles down the road. Visit the fair.“
„That would be great.“ Casey beamed all over his face. „But we will miss the opening of the car show tomorrow.“
„That's okay; I was already there several times,“ Zeke answered, already looking for the next exit of the freeway. To be honest, he hadn't missed an opening of the car show in Tampa for years. But this time, it was different.
Others might call Casey a geek because he wasn't interested in the stuff a teenager was supposed to care about, and sometimes even Zeke couldn't get it that he had started to hang around with him. But it was the best time of his life, so much better than boring parties with always the same people and mindless sex with girls... and guys... he actually didn't care about.
With Casey, he could watch the geekiest TV shows, sit on the porch all night long to watch the full moon or spend a whole weekend at a bird sanctuary. Inwardly Zeke laughed about his excitement because of the thought of visiting the spring fair of a small town in the middle of nowhere together with him.
But it would be a hell of a lot of fun; he just knew this.
