Nick was standing close to the stage, not able to take his eyes away from Julie while she performed her songs. So long he had denied his feelings for her, trying hard to convince himself that Carrie was the girl he wanted to be together with.

But this was over now; Carrie did break up with him this morning without further explanation, and to be honest, he wasn't overly sad because of it. Watching Julie on stage made his heart flutter in a way she had never had; Julie was Julie, she didn't have to put on a show like Carrie, knew to put everyone under a spell with her voice alone.

It would have been a perfect evening, if not...

Nick felt jealousy rushing through his body when Julie bent closer to the guitarist. Only a very realistic hologram, he knew that, but the way she looked at the guy while they sang together seemed to tell something different.

„Two worlds collide when I'm with you...“ The words made Nick cringe inwardly. It was not fair. He had taken so long to find out where his heart belonged to and now he was going to lose against a guy who didn't even exist?

„We come to life when we're in perfect harmony.“ They smiled at each other, and everyone could see the bond between them, so special, so close, that it felt like a hopeless try ever to win her heart.

The song ended, and thundering applause tore Nick out of his thoughts. Only a wink later, and the hologram band was gone, leaving back Julie on stage alone. She stepped closer to the edge, waving at her fans when suddenly their eyes met. And for a short moment, it seemed as if she was smiling only for him.

Title: Falling in love
Character: Julie, mention of Luke
Challenge: Fandom Battle (FFFC) / distance (100 Fandoms)
Word Count: 244

Julie couldn't stop thinking about Flynn's words. “Something is going on between you two,” her best friend had told her right after the gig at the school’s gym. She had denied it because it was just too ridiculous. Strange enough, that she was so close to three ghosts, living in her mom's old studio. That she played music with them, and after almost a year of mourning about her mother finally started to feel whole again. But falling in love?

Okay, Luke was cute, cuter than every boy she had ever met before; he was smart and funny and a talented musician. His brown eyes could sparkle so full of mischief, but sometimes, when he thought that no one took any notice of him, he looked thoughtful and sad.

Then she felt the urge to pull him into her arm, holding him tight. But this was not possible. Because, even if she could see him, could hear him, he was still a ghost. Untouchable. She would never hold his hand, never feel him, never kiss him. They could be a great team on stage, but never a couple; they could never do all the wonderful things young people in love did. Together, but still on distance.

No, falling in love with him wouldn't be very smart. In the end, he would go, and she would be the one left behind again. Just, why did her stupid heart beat quicker whenever she thought about him?
