Characters: Beth Greene
Word Count: 100
Prompt: clouds
Finished: November 2017

She was lying on the clearing, surrounded by fallen leaves. Gray clouds had chased away the last sunbeams, the air was chilly, but Beth didn't mind. She enjoyed this moment of silence; her mind drifted off. Back to the old times, when she had lain on the meadow behind her grandfather's farm together with Maggie. They loved to watch the various shapes of the clouds, cats, hearts, or flowers; Maggie had insisted once on seeing their grandfather in his rocking chair.

Innocent phantasies of two little girls who didn't sense how their world would look like only a few years later.

Maggie rested her head on Glen's shoulder and sighed slightly.

„You okay,“ he asked, and the worried undertone in his voice let her smile.

„Couldn't be better,“ she reassured him. „It's a wonderfully warm and peaceful autumn night. The sky without clouds, the stars, and the moonlight, it couldn't be more perfect.“

And Glen held her in his arms, thinking about it that he would have given all he still owned to make the world pause, to hold on to this moment of peace, to make her forget how much the world had changed, at least for one night.

Title: Aftermath
Characters: Daryl Dixon, Beth Green
Prompt: a couple's first time
Words: 200
Finished: May 2017

Beth couldn't sleep; she was still lying in Daryl's arms; she could feel his body's heat and hear him snoring slightly. She would have loved to talk with him, but he was not a guy of many words.

He had shown her he cared for her in a hundred other ways. His kisses were so warm, his touches so gentle. It was as if the world had stopped existing for a moment, and her long-forgotten dreams came back.

When she was younger, she often dreamed about the guy who would be her first: big, and strong, and good-looking, like the heroes in the romantic books she liked to read. When the zombies started taking over the world, she had stopped dreaming; this was no longer a place where love and tenderness could survive.

When she first met Daryl, she was almost scared of him. He looked so ferocious. The crossbow over his shoulder, his eyes so dark and nearly dangerous; she knew he was ready to kill when it was necessary. So much has happened since then. And she had learned to trust him.

Maybe he didn't look like the sparkling knight she had dreamed about, but she felt safe here, in his arms.

Title: Comforting Hugs
Characters/Pairing: Daryl Dixon, Carol Peltier
Wordcount: 200
Challenge: hug
Finished: January 2018

Like through a haze, he heard Carol's cries, felt the uncontrolled trembling of her skinny body. Lost of words, all he could do was to hold her.

Finally, she had to face the truth. Sophia was gone. Everyone had known it for a while already, but Carol had refused to accept it. Daryl had prayed for a wonder together with her, though deep inside, he had long accepted it that all hope for this world would be in vain.

They had opened the barn this morning and had killed all the zombies despite Beth crying and Hershel cursing them. Then, when everyone thought it was over, Sophia stumbled out the door. Or what had reminded of her: an empty shell, only driven by her lowest instincts.

Daryl had lifted the crossbow when he suddenly remembered her soft voice, her shy smile. His hands had started to tremble, his sight blurred. The loud bang made him shudder. It had been Rick who had brought it to an end.

Carol's animal-like outcry tore him out of his reverie. He caught her in his arms when she broke down and held her tight. But maybe it was only because he needed this hug.
