Title: Monday Morning
Character: Casey Connor
Word Count: 200
Prompt: walking on eggshells
Finished: 19.04.2021
:::
Reluctantly Casey opened his eyes. Going to school on a Monday morning always felt like walking on eggshells. One wrong step and the whole day could get out of control.
He could run into Gabe or one of the other jocks the moment he left the school bus, and he would end at the flag pool.
To get caught by Delilah wasn't much better; of course, the cheerleader queen didn't bully him, but she would glare at him with piercing eyes, complaining that the pics he had taken at Friday's football game were a shame for her school's magazine. Why she didn't stop bothering him every week anew was a riddle.
But worst of all, Mr. Furlong could decide that it was time for teamwork again. If he were lucky, Zeke Tyler, the guy who made his heart beating wildly in a way it definitely wasn't supposed to, would have skipped school again, but if not... The thought alone of sharing a lab table with him was scary.
„Casey?“ The cheery voice of his mom tore him out of his dark thoughts. „Pancakes or Lucky Charms for breakfast today?“
He couldn't help but smile. Maybe Monday mornings weren't that bad.
