Title: A difficult talk
Character: Casey Connor
Challenge: blow bubbles into a cup of water
Word Count: 174
Finished: 19.02.2021
:::
Casey was sitting on the porch, clutching a glass of water with both hands. He needed to calm down before going back into the house to tell his parents the truth. That he would not marry Delilah as they hoped and that he didn't plan to go back to law school after summer. He had thought about it for quite a while already. His father's dream was to work together with him in his law office one day, but it was not his dream. Time to draw the obvious conclusions. But he hated the thought to disappoint his parents, who had always backed him up.
Suddenly a memory rushed through his mind. His grandma, telling him that blowing bubbles in a cup of water was very soothing. She had always known a good piece of advice when things got complicated. Smiling about himself, he pursed his lips to blow the air out.
About five minutes later, he felt ready for the talk. „Thank you, grandma,“ he murmured to himself. „You were a smart woman.“
