"What's wrong with you? "Feeling annoyed, Stokely glared at the quarterback of the Hornets, who dropped down beside her, like he did almost every day at lunch break since a while. "You're acting like a stalker."
"I don't get it; why do you always have to play the tough girl?"
"That's who I am, "Stokely huffed.
"Can't believe that, "Stan answered unimpressed. "You are putting on a show to keep people on distance. I wonder what you are hiding."
"No shit! "Stokely felt uneasiness rushing through her body, and she hated him for that. "Don't you have anything better to do? Does Delilah know about your sudden interest in a lesbian gothic bitch?"
To her surprise, Stan laughed. "Deliah is not interested in me any longer; since I've told her that I will take over the gardening center of my grandparents after graduation. Guess she needs a more famous partner, who's always standing in the center of the interest.
And I don't think you are a lesbian. I would love to see you in a colorful summer dress one day, and without all this dark make-up."
For a split of a second, her heartbeat quickened; was he really flirting with her, or was this just a shallow joke? "What do you care about my dresses? I like black; it's the way I feel."
Stan eyed her in silence for a while, until she finally couldn't endure it any longer. Clutching her book, she jumped up, but Stan grabbed for her hand. "Then it might be about time that someone changes this. You're looking great when you are smiling, don't you know this?"
Before she could recover from the shock, she felt strong arms pulling her closer and warm lips on hers. And the world turned into a bright, colorful place.
