„Hey, leave him alone!“ Zeke grabbed for Gabe's arm when the football star of Herrington High raised his hand again.
„Tyler? That's none of your business. So stay better out of it.“
But for whatever reason, Zeke couldn't ignore the bullying any longer. Yes, Casey might be a geek, with his stupid checkered shirts and the camera around his neck, but he would never do any harm to others. Even if he would make a try to stand up against the jocks, they were much stronger and bigger than he was.
„No, you stay better away from him from now on. Touch him again, and you'll have to deal with me.“
Gabe let the hand sink, blinking surprised. „Woah, since when you are so close with this looser?“
Before Zeke could react, the loud voice of coach Willis interrupted them. „Hey, guys, what's going on?“
Gabe put on a faked smile. „It's nothing, coach.“
„I hope so. See you at the sports field in five minutes. Guess it's time for some extra training.“
„Sure, coach.“ Gabe grabbed for his backpack, throwing a last glance at Zeke. „See you, fag lover,“ he whispered while turning away.
