Title: The Donut Shop
Characters: Casey Connor, Zeke Tyler, mention of Mrs. Connor
Prompt: Picture - closed shop (Fill 2)
Prompt: written within 15 minutes
Word Count: 336
Finished: 16.05.2020
„Wait a moment.“ Zeke tried to stop his sobbing boyfriend. „What is this supposed to mean? The commissioner of hygiene has closed the donut shop of your mom? What's happened?“
„They say that someone complained about her hygiene rules.“ Casey sniffed. „And that she's not allowed to re-open before they haven't made a complete check.
She's completely whacked out, says that she doesn't know what she's done wrong. When she has to close the shop for some weeks, this will be the end of all her dreams. She's put all her savings into it. It was so hard for her after the divorce, and the shop was the best what happened to her since then. If she loses it... I don't know if she will be able to deal with that.“
Zeke put an arm around Casey's shaking shoulders, trying to sort out his mind. As far as he knew, Mrs. Connor was a responsible woman, who would never risk it to put her customers into danger by ignoring some stupid rules. But one could never know, she was new in business, without any question a brilliant baker, but not so experienced when it came to the theoretical framework. So... Inwardly, Zeke shook his head to get rid of these thoughts. No, whatever she had done wrong, there had to be a way out of this misery.
„Hey,“ he murmured. „Calm down, probably all this is only a misunderstanding, and everything will clear up soon. Where is your mom now?“
„In the bathroom. Since ages already.“
„Fine. Stop crying, okay, it doesn't help her if you play the drama queen now. We need to keep a clear head. Try to find out what exactly is happened. Family council. I will make some tea; maybe you can go upstairs, convince your mom to join us.“ He squeezed Casey's shoulder reassuringly. „Hey, everything will be okay. You and your mom, your two are fighters, no way that you will give up so easily.“
