The little guy carefully stuffed his backpack behind his seat. “What’s wrong? “
“This thing. “Kurdy pointed at the thick, old coat Smith was wearing, as ever. “We have a heatwave, and it’s supposed to get even hotter. You will get a heatstroke before lunch, and I will have to deal with the mess. “
“I’ll cope with it, don’t worry, it’s not the first hot summer I live to see.“
“No way! Put it off before you start smelling like a skunk. “
“I’m sorry. “Smith looked unhappy. “Then maybe it is a better idea when I stay here today. “
“That’s bullshit, “Kurdy huffed. He would never have admitted it, but he learned to enjoy the presence of this geek, and he was not in the mood to make this day trip alone. “All I ask you for is to act reasonably at least once. It’s not a big thing. No one needs a coat this summer. “
Actually, it was not a big surprise that Smith stubbornly shook his head. “You don’t get it. “

“This coat and my backpack, I can’t remember where I got them, but it’s all that I still have from my past. I can’t be without it, because it makes me feel vulnerable and lost. “
