Zeke couldn't believe his eyes. Of course, he had been away for a long while. And if not for selling the house, he would have known to avoid it to come back to Herrington. Too many memories, about wild times where he hadn't cared about anyone. Even his only true friend he had hurt mindlessly until finally even Casey had given up hope that he might change one day.
Casey. Zeke had secretly hoped to meet him again. Though it wasn't sure if he would ever forgive him. But at least he could apologize for being such a prick back then.
But for sure, he hadn't been prepared for the sight in front of him. Casey, in front of the Joe Traders, a baby carrier belted on. Slightly chuckling, he was talking to the baby. "Oh, baby girl, just a minute, mommy will finish shopping soon. Then we can go home. "
Zeke cringed inwardly. Of course, the feeling of jealousy rushing through him was ridiculous. But the thought that Casey had moved on also without him, that he had built a family, was happily living together with a girl and his baby now did hurt so much more than expected.
