Title: Truly dark
Character: Samwise Gamgee, Frodo Baggins
Prompt: fandom rush / Where there is love there is never truly dark.
Words: 204
:::
Sam was sitting near the dimly glowing campfire, watching Frodo with concern. Evidently, his strength was almost used up, and the way to the fiery mountain was still long and dangerous. More and more orcs got in their way, Sauron's eye searched for them, hoping to catch them and get his hands on it.
Sam's eyes stopped at Frodo's chest and he shuddered. Hidden under the torn shirt, there it was. The golden ring. Such a small thing, but if Frodo would fail to bring it to the all-destroying fires of the mountain, it would mean the end of everything good in this world.
Deep sadness overcame him. The wafting fog around got thicker with every hour passing, and soon enough they would be lost in complete darkness. No escape. All hope would be in vain.
Sam felt tears burning in his eyes, when suddenly a familiar voice in his head whispered: „Where there is love there is never truly dark, Samwise Gamgee.“ For a moment he felt paralyzed; then he stretched his back and stood up. Of course, Gandalf was right, as ever. He could be the light for Frodo, even at the darkest places. He could bring him safely to his destination.
