„They want to blindfold me! Lead me through the forest as if I were cattle.“ Gimli's eyes sparkled fire. „Damned elves. No one has ever insulted me like this. I am a son of Gloin, a dwarf of the house of Durin. “

Legolas eyed him thoughtfully. „If I remember right, Durin was a close friend of the elves.“

„That was before they betrayed us!“

„The stories told by the elves say the same about the dwarfes.“

„Everything a lie! Dwarves are much too honorable to act like this. They are true to their words.“

„Then maybe you should agree to get your eyes covered so that we can move on. Frodo might need the help of the dwarves and the elves one day. This is not the time for quarrel.“

Gimli pulled his face. „Says the elf who can cross the woods with his eyes open!“

"I am Legolas, a Sindar elf, prince of the Mirkwood, son of Thranduil." A faint smile turned up on his lips. „Will you agree to get your eyes blindfolded if I join you?“
