Zeke looked around in the small room. So different from his garage, it was a place of a geek who got every love from his family. It was ridiculous, but he could feel jealousy rushing through his body for a split second. There had been a time when all he had secretly wanted was a home like this. But finally, reality had caught up with him and these times were long gone.
Casey tore him out of his thoughts. „So, let's start with homework. The quicker we'll be done.“
„Sounds like a plan.“ Zeke dropped down onto the old chair in front of the window. „Oh, what's this?“ He pulled a teddy bear out from under a blanket, eying it half amused, half curious. „Cute!“
Casey blushed, grabbing for the stuffed animal. „You can be a real pain in the ass,“ he hissed, opening the cabinet to throw the teddy inside. With a loud bang, he shut the door again.
Zeke smirked. „Hey, calm down. It was only a joke.“
„Well, but everything around here is none of your business.“ Casey blinked wildly. „Might be that this room is not as cool as your lab, but I give a shit.“ The door to the cabinet was torn open again, and the teddy was placed right in the middle of Casey's bed. Blue eyes sparkled defiantly. „My room! My stuff! If you don't like it, you can leave at any time. I can do this stupid homework all alone.“
Zeke kept quiet for a moment, his eyes resting on the teddy. „It looks old,“ he said.
Casey squinted his lips. „It is,“ he finally answered. „I got it from my grandma the day I was born.“
„Understand. Memories. That's a good thing, I guess.“
„Are you trying to fool me?“
„I am not as big an asshole as you think.“ Zeke smiled slightly. „At least not always.“ He pointed at the old computer on Casey's desk. „Homework now? We don't want to disappoint good old Furlong, do we?“
