„You are such an idiot!“
Zeke stopped, turning around, surprised. Geeky Casey was standing in the middle of the hall, rolling his eyes. This was strange. „You are talking with me?“
„There is no one else around. Everyone is in the gym; Coach Willis is giving one of his motivational speeches. Shouldn't you be there, too? I've heard he wants you on the team.“
„Not interested. I'm not a good team player.“
„But that's your last chance; you will graduate and can go to college. Instead of this, you are flirting like mad with Miss Burke and ruin everything.“
Zeke huffed. „Hey, stop that! That's none of your business. Actually, my life is only my business. No one has ever dared to tell me what to do with it.“
„That's a shame.“ Casey pulled his face. „Your parents should have been around more often. Maybe then you would make better use of your brilliant mind.“
It didn't happen often that Zeke felt lost for words. „I have a brilliant mind,“ he repeated.
„Sure.“ A slight smile sneaked on Casey's lips. „And if you sneak into the gym right now, the coach might even notice that you weren't around.“
