„You coming,“ Zeke asked impatiently. Spending a warm spring afternoon at the library was so not to his taste. But, of course, Casey had insisted that good research was the basis for every school paper.
„One moment. It looks like it might rain later; I need to grab my umbrella.“
„You own an umbrella?“
Defiantly Casey shrugged. „Yes. I've learned my lesson since I got drenched to the bones one day and ended in bed with a fever for a whole weekend.“
Zeke couldn't hide his grin. „Lemme guess. It's a geeky one, red with white spots?“
„Why do you always need to prove that you are an asshole?“
Casey looked so hurt that Zeke instantly regretted his joke. „Sorry, I didn't mean it that way.“
„So? And what did you mean?“
„That you would look kinda cute with a ladybug umbrella,“ Zeke answered without thinking about his words. Only when he noticed Casey blushing, he cringed inwardly. Cute? Casey Conner? Where the hell did this idea come from? „Okay, guess we need to hurry up; the library will close in two hours,“ he said hastily, turning to his GTO to hide his confusion.
