„Hey, stop that,“ Zeke groaned and tried to push the blanket away Casey had placed over him. „You are not my babysitter.“

„Well, sometimes it looks as if you can need one.“ Casey stayed unimpressed. „What the heck is gotten into you? No one goes running in the park during a summer storm.“

Tired Zeke shrugged. „Running helps me to destress. Mom called this morning.“

Casey sighed inwardly; okay, this explained a lot; Zeke's relationship with his parents was complicated. They left him alone most of the time, thinking that he was old enough for his own life, but Casey knew that Zeke, even if he would never admit it, sometimes envied him for his intact, happy family. „Okay, we can talk about later, but for now, stay under the blanket. I'm gonna make you a hot tea with honey. You can't risk it to get a cold now, only some weeks before graduation.“
