:::
Henry's heart was beating wild while he sneaked closer. How long was it that had felt so unsure about what to do next? He was a fighter, a soldier, a killer, and he had stopped to put his job into question a long time ago. They told him that he was doing the only right thing, killing the most dangerous enemies of peace and safety in the world. And he wanted to believe them.
Though it got more and more difficult over the years to live with the consequences of his doing. It did happen, only rarely, but it did happen, that they were wrong about a target subject. And even if he was one of the best snipers, he had failed already, only twice in all the years, but the thought that he killed innocent men, one of them a fourteen-year-old boy, followed him up into his dreams every night.
Finally, he had made a decision: one last job, and he would quit. Would move somewhere into in the woods, near a lake; he would fish and read and enjoy a glass of good wine in the evening sun. Finally peace; no weapons, no relentless pursuits, no death anymore. A tempting dream.
But obviously, it wasn't that easy. He knew too much, had seen too much, and before one day he would talk too much with the wrong people, they decided that it was too risky to let him go.
And they send their best killer after him. His own self. A clon, born to be an obedient soldier, grown up in isolation, with the only mission to follow whichever order. He was young, barely twenty-five, but he didn't know anything about mercy, guilt, and nightmares. His only purpose was to be successful by the hunt or to die at the try to be so.
Henry knew this would be his final fight because only one of them could leave the museum alive tonight. He wasn't ready to die; he wanted to live his dream. But how could he be able to kill his younger self?
