Title: Too hard to endure
Characters: Kurdy Malloy, Jeremiah
Prompt: Remember to live
Word Count: 254
Finished: 09.03.2020
:::
„You need to remember to live,“ Kurdy said, well knowing that his words would be in vain. He and Jeremiah had never been close friends but could count on each other when it was necessary. To see his partner in this desolate state and not being able to help was kind of disturbing.
Even more, because Jeremiah had been there for him when he had lost Elizabeth only some months ago. The pain would never go completely, but with Jeremiah's help, he had learned to live with it. „She would not want you to give up hope,“ he had told him,“ she did believe in a better future, and now it's up to you to move on for her.“
But Kurdy knew comforting words alone wouldn't be enough to help Jeremiah in his situation. Libby was dead, like Elizabeth, but not by accident. She got shot in a church by Smith. The little guy was strange, but Kurdy did believe him, that there hadn't been another choice. Because Libby had turned out to be a spy for Simms, and if she had been successful, the Mountain and all the people living there would be in serious trouble now.
Kurdy wasn't sure if Jeremiah would ever be ready to accept Libby's betrayal, because it meant that she had never loved him, had only used him for her own purpose.
He sighed slightly, putting a hand on his partner's shoulder, who looked at him with swollen, dark-rimmed eyes. „I'll be there if you want to talk.“
