Lea bit his lower lip, watching Shaun wander up and down the living room. She could only guess what was going on inside him. The pain must be unbearable. Only some weeks ago, he had lost one of his best friends. Now, the news that Glassy's cancer was back. And Claire fought with death. His mentor and friend, almost a father. And the woman who had been so close to him once.
Lea fought her own grief down, well knowing that Shaun needed her now. But as hard she tried to offer at least some comfort, he seemed to withdraw even more. Shaun barely had an eye for her, not even for Steve; he didn't sleep or eat. He barely left his office at the hospital.
For Asher, it had been too late; he hadn't been able to save him. Even more desperate, he sought a solution for Dr. Glassman and Claire now.
All Lea could hope for was that he finally would have one of his brilliant ideas to save at least Claire. For Glassy, she knew that well enough, it was too late. Also, the old man had made peace with his fate.
Only Shaun couldn't accept it. And losing both, Glassy and Claire, would probably drive him over the edge.
