:::
Still feeling dizzy, Zelda got back onto her feet. A pleasant warmth ran through her body, radiating from a golden sun. The trees had colorful leaves, and the grass was so green. Birds were singing, and there was a group of deers next to her, eying her full of curiosity, not full of fear.
A smile sneaked on her face; everything was so peaceful, like she hadn't experienced it for ages. Ganon had tried to destroy all the beauty of Hyrule about 100 years ago. Even if Link finally came back and managed to fight him, and she had done all she could to rebuild the world, it was impossible to turn the time back and undo everything terrible.
„Zelda. It's nice to meet you.“ A gentle voice tore her out of her thoughts, and when she turned around... It took her breath away for a split of the moment. This was not real. The young woman with long, blonde hair and flowing white robes was unknown to her and yet so familiar. She had seen her before, on ancient stone reliefs, in the dungeons deep under Hyrule Castle. Queen Sonia, together with King Rauru and his sister Mineru. But they all were long gone, had existed at the beginning of all times.
Zelda shuddered when memories crossed her mind: the dungeons, the darkness around her, Link at her side, as always. The uneasiness she could feel rising inside her. But she ignored it and put her curiosity above her duty as the princess again. When the evil grabbed for her, it had been much too late. Link had tried to hold her when the abyss opened up, but she fell... and fell... and fell... into endless darkness.
The woman stepped closer, grabbed her hands, squeezed them reassuring as if she could read her mind. „Don't be afraid. Nothing bad will happen to you here.“
Still hesitating, Zelda looked up, took in her surroundings, and started to recognize them little by little, though everything was so different from the Hyrule she remembered. She barely dared ask. „Where am I?“
„This is the land of Hyrule, long before you were born.“
