Title: A Night on the Holo Deck
Character: Harry Kim, Tom Paris
Word Count: 237
Prompt Tables: in the future
Rating: PG13
:::
When Harry Kim entered the cafeteria, Tom Paris was already sitting at their usual table, waving at him with a smile on his face. Maybe it was not the best idea to come here for breakfast, but despite feeling uncomfortable, Harry knew he couldn't stay out of his friend's way for long. The Voyager was not a small spaceship, but their journey might still last about 70 years in the worst case, and they both were working on the bridge every day.
He didn't pay much attention to the breakfast Neelix offered him, chatty as ever. „Thanks,“ was all he said to the Talaxian, and grabbing his tablet, he crossed the room.
"Morning," Tom greeted him when he dropped onto a chair, still avoiding eye contact. „How was it on the holodeck tonight? Did you have fun with the holo-me?“
“It was okay,“ Harry murmured evasively, still haunted by the memories of last night's event—a nightmare he had enjoyed way too much.
„Hey, I put a lot of work into making him authentic, so what do you think about a bit more enthusiasm?" Tom's eyes sparkled amused. "It can't have been that bad, right?"
And Harry knew he was involuntarily blushing. Up to now, he had tried to convince himself that something had gone terribly wrong with the coding of the hologram, but suddenly, he wasn't so sure anymore. Could it be that Tom had intentionally incorporated a kiss-your-best-friend modus into the program?
