The cheerleader girl left the bleachers, hiding her tears in vain, while Zeke lit a cigarette.

„I don't get it; why are you so mean,“ Casey asked.

„I love my freedom.“ Zeke shrugged. „And I never let her believe I'm interested in a serious relationship.“

„Hmpf. One day you will be pretty much alone.“

„Hm?“

„Pushing away everyone is not freedom, but pretty stupid. Everyone needs someone to lean on now and then. Even you!“

„Woah! Why don't you care about your own business?“

Casey blushed slightly. „Because I care for you,“ he thought.
