Sam had been standing in front of the impressing main building of the college for quite a while already. So long he had dreamed about this moment, but suddenly he wasn't sure anymore if this was the right step.

„Leave everything behind. Make a new start!“ Dean's last words to him.

Sam felt tears burning in his eyes. As if it was so easy. To accept Dean's wish of ultimately letting him go had almost broken him. It had taken weeks of mourning until he had felt ready to think about his future.

His whole life, he had been a hunter. Maybe not with his heart, like Dean or his dad. But even during the short time he had tried to escape family business, his knife had always been within reach, and when Dean one day showed up at his door, he had known what would happen next. He was a Winchester.

The last living one of the family. Stepping through the big doors leading to the college would mean ending decades of family business.

„Every end is also a beginning,“ Dean's voice whispered in his head.

„Go to college. Meet a nice girl. Build a family. A dog and children,“ the voice of his mom added. „And be happy.“

„Because this is, what I did fight for all the time,“ finished his dad. "I wanted a free and happy life for my sons."

And Sam couldn't help but smile. With the blessing of his family, he made the first step into his new life.
