„Why don't you just leave me alone,“ Kurdy asked. „I don't need your help.“
The little man put his backpack on the backseat of the jeep. „We are friends, and you shouldn't go alone today.“
Kurdy turned around, his usually gentle eyes dark with anger. „We are no friends; in the best case, companions by accident. If I would have known what comes out of it, I would have left you out in the cold. To bring you to the Mountain was a fatal mistake.“
Smith smiled. „It was predestinated that we met. God says I am your guardian.“
