Title: Only in her dreams
Character: Chloe Decker, mention of Lucifer
Word Count: 359
Prompt: Any, any, dream
Finished: 17.11.2021
:::
Chloe yawned; it had been a long day, and she was tired. Still, going to bed meant that her dreams would come back to her, and she wasn't sure if she welcomed or hated them. Dreaming about the one she had learned to love during the last years.
Lucifer. He was different from anyone else she had ever met. Of course, he was; he was the devil. Not the dark creature from hell she had heard about every Sunday at church during her childhood. He was a guy who could drive her crazy with his oh-so-cocksure behavior, but he also had a different side. Contemplative, mournful, caring.
It had taken a long time until she had been ready to accept her feelings for him. Too long. They hadn't had enough time. Now he was gone, and only in her dreams, she could be together with him. Wonderful lifely dreams, but it was so hard to wake up in the morning. To know that it would never come true.
He would never come back onto earth again. The hell was the place God had sent him to, and even if he hated it, he would never stand up against his father's wishes again. He had done it once, and it had almost meant the end for the world. Demons had made their way into the light, threatened to overrun cities, countries, earth. Enslaving the menkind, destroying all beauty.
The time on earth had changed Lucifer; when he had left hell for the adventure of a human life six years ago, he hadn't cared about the consequences. But the devil had learned to love; no way that he could let it happen that the people he cared about so much would get harmed. Even if it meant that he had to leave them. Had to leave her.
Chloe blinked a tear away before it could run down her face. She wouldn't cry about everything that could never be; she would go to bed, and in her dreams, she would remember what it felt like to lie in his arms. For some hours reunited, until the morning would bring back real life.
