With his face deep red and gasping for air, Casey finally stopped. Zeke stepped closer, reaching out a bottle of water to him. Eagerly, he grabbed it; after some sips, he eventually recovered his breath. „Why am I doing this again,“ he asked, leaning against the hood of the GTO.
Zeke chuckled. „Because it's for a good cause. The more miles you run, the more money the children's home will get.“
„But why did I sign up for the half marathon? Why didn't you stop me?“
„C'mon, geek boy.“ Zeke bent forward for a fleeting kiss. „No one can stop you when you are on a mission.“
„Guess you are right.“ Casey sighed. „But I'm afraid I might fail this time.“
„I'm sure you won't. I remember you were fast as the wind at highschool. With a bit more training, you will be back to that within two weeks.“
„That's almost four years ago. And there was no other chance to escape the bullying by the jocks than to run.“
„Hm!“ Zeke watched him with a smug grin. „Maybe I can help with a bit of motivation.“
„You are threatening to bully me,“ Casey asked and laughed.
„Even if I was a player of the Hornets for some time, I never was one of the mean jocks.“ Zeke's eyes sparkled, amused. „I'm thinking of something different. Our long planned weekend in Paris. You finish the race, and we will do all your photographer heart is dreaming about.“
„Montmartre? All the small art galleries? Pere Lachaise?“ Casey blinked. „But you always insisted that all this would bore you to death.“
„It's all for the children,“ Zeke said and grinned. „But if you give up the marathon, the weekend will be mine. Be prepared for casinos, and shows, and the most exclusive restaurants in Paris.“ He placed a kiss on Casey's lips. „And you are not allowed to protest, no matter how much I spoil you.“
Casey's eyes sparkled. „Sounds like a fair deal,“ he agreed. "I guess, I'm ready for another round now."
