Zeke eyed the boy sitting on the old couch in his garage. „It was a risky decision to get into a car of someone you don't know and to go home with him,“ he said.
Casey, that was his name, he had told Zeke when they had stopped at a small diner for a short lunch break, turned to him, and again Zeke felt attracted by his deep blue eyes, even if they looked so lost. „I don't have anything to lose,“ Casey said, „I'm used to it, that people bully me. My father hit me every day; called me a whining sissy, a bootless loser. Told me that I didn't deserve better. And I did believe him; I let it happen that he broke me.“
„Shit!“ Zeke felt anger rising, balled his hands into fists. Yes, he could tell volumes about parents who didn't care, but never had his father been abusive.
„Until that night, some days ago.“ Now Casey's voice was slightly shaking. „He was drunk again, but instead of hitting me again, he suddenly... he touched me.“
Zeke stiffened in every movement, but Casey continued before he could find the right words. „I've stopped thinking; started to kick around, scratching his face, and finally hit him into his genitals. He let go of me for a moment, and I did run. It was either that, or he would have killed me.“ His eyes wandered to his backpack, and he bit his lower lip. „Maybe he still will when he finds me. I should better... You are nice, Zeke; I don't want to bring you into trouble.“
„No,“ Zeke snarled. „You can stay here as long as you need to. And when he dares to show up here...“ He narrowed his eyes, thinking about the gun he did hide in one of the drawers of his lab table. „Don't worry; I know to defend myself. And he will never touch you again.“
