Casey smiled wide when he noticed Zeke standing near the baggage claim area of the Columbus airport. He grabbed his backpack and headed over to him. „Hey, this is...“ he started to say but got interrupted when the older boy pulled him into his arms, almost taking his breath away. It seemed to last minutes until Zeke was ready to let him go again.

„Woah!“ Casey laughed. „That was a bear hug. Since when are you so gushily?“

Looking embarrassed, Zeke turned away and grabbed for the backpack. „Well, might be that I've missed you,“ he murmured. „Can we leave it at that?“

„Oh.“ The grin on Casey's face widened, his blue eyes sparkled. „The trip to San Fransisco was awesome, and hanging around with other photo geeks all day long a hell of a lot of fun.“ He could see Zeke's eyes darken and added quickly:“ But I've missed you, too. Let's head home; I can barely wait to show you.“

„I never was a great believer in luck,“ Zeke said. „I believe in myself. All I have achieved in my life is because I usually don't give up before I get what I want.“

„But luck is not what you are working for. Luck hit you out of the blue; you don't even know that you are missing something before you find it.“

Zeke rolled his eyes. „Geez, Casey, it's about time to grow up. You can't spend all your life waiting for the incredible luck. This won't get you out of Ohio to the college you are secretly dreaming about.“

„I will go to city college in Akron. It's a good one,“ the boy protested weakly.

„Sure, when you don't have any ambitions for more. Marriage, family, children. A boring job. And you will never stop waiting for luck stepping into your life, changing everything for the better.“ Zeke shook his head. „Really, you can't be serious.“

Casey huffed silently. „Not everyone can be a rebel like you are. It's nothing wrong with it to have a normal life.“

"Maybe it isn't. If this is all that you want. But if not..."

After a while of silence, something unexpected happened that turned Casey's life around within a split of a moment. Zeke bent forward and kissed him. Feeling shocked, Casey jumped back, looking at him with wide-open eyes. „What the hell was this?“

„You can simply call it kiss.“ Zeke smirked. „Or maybe it was luck that I was here at the right moment to stop you from ruining the rest of your life.“
