:::
Thoughtfully Olivia watched Noah playing in the sand. Once again, she couldn't help but wonder if her decision to adopt him was right. Maybe she was just thinking about herself because this could be her last chance to be a mother?
He was living with her for quite a while already, and she loved him with all her heart. But was this enough? After all, he already had to go through; he deserved a happy, unburdened childhood. Would she be able to give him all he needed?
Her job was demanding; it was often hard to leave the tourmaline thoughts behind when she got home. At the moment, Noah was still too young to notice this, but he would get older. What would happen then? Would he be affected by her behavior?
She felt a fleeting touch on her knee and looked up, noticing the little boy beside the bench. „Swing?“ He pointed at the large swingset on the playground.
Olivia forced her dark thoughts back and got up, grabbing for his tiny hand. Warm and a bit sticky from the ice cream he had had some time ago. His brown eyes sparkled, and excitedly he jumped up and down when she nodded. „Sure, why not?“
„Swing, swing, swing,“ he bubbled. „Swinging with Mommy!“
Suddenly she felt tears in her eyes, but she smiled, all her doubts gone. The first time that he had called her 'mommy.'
