Frowning, the boy put his book down. „What are you talking about?“
„Delilah. And you. This interview on TV yesterday evening. You can't believe that this helps to get over the trauma.“
„A trauma?“ Casey pulled his face. „Since when are you so overdramatic? I don't have a trauma.“
„You saved the world from a fucking alien queen. Everyone doing something like this would have trauma, even if you act as if your world is all sunshine and lollipops. I don't fall for your shit. You and Delilah, that's ridiculous.“
Blue eyes started to sparkle. „Only because something doesn't fit into your world, it's not necessarily wrong.“ Casey huffed. „And why the heck don't you care about your own business?“
Zeke watched him with narrowed eyes. „Because I'm starting to worry. This is so not you anymore. Maybe... are you still seeing your shrink? I can bet that he's not overly happy about all this media drama around you.“
Casey stared at him, surprised, then he started to laugh. „God, this is so cute. Before that night with Marybeth, you didn't even know I'm existing. And suddenly, you are my best buddy? What's wrong with you? You are the last one who has the right to judge Delilah or me.“
Zeke kept quiet for a long while, then he got up and turned away. „Guess you are right,“ he murmured. „Seems as if this alien shit has also affected me more than I thought. Time to get over it.“ Inwardly still churned up, he rushed down the bleachers without looking back. But he knew he would have an eye on Casey furthermore to make sure that he was okay.
