„Okay, spit it; what's wrong with you today?“
Zeke avoided eye contact. „You should better go now. And never come back.“
„Oh.“ Heat was rushing through Casey's body. This hit him out of the blue. Yesterday, at school, everything had looked okay; Zeke had ignored him as ever, but there had been this fleetingly touch of their hands at chemistry. „See you tomorrow,“ he had murmured, with this hidden smile on his lips before he got into his GTO.
Casey licked his dry lips. No drama. Everything but a drama. He had always known that this day would come, and he wouldn't break down now. Maybe later. At home. „I get it!“
Finally, Zeke looked up, and it was almost a shock to notice tears in his eyes. „No, you don't.“
„Okay. Will you enlighten me?“
Zeke's hand was shaking when he put his beer back on the table. „We can't do this any longer. You sneak too much under my skin.“
„What?“
„Last night, I dreamed about you. I cried out into the world that... that I love you.“
Casey winced. „Holy shit!“
Zeke smirked. „Yeah! That was never part of the plan, right?“
