Ephraim leaned back on the worn-out couch, closing his eyes. Trying to ignore the noisiness around him.
Another day, spent in darkness, another fight with too many losses. For what were they actually still fighting for? The vampires had already killed or enslaved too many of the menkind; penned them up in ghettos, using the men as food and the women as birthing machines.
Eff felt tired. Ready to give up. But there still was this spark of hope that his beloved son, the amenable follower of the master, could be saved. For him, he would fight up to the end.
