Sam was proud of his garden, especially the tiny herbage area near the house was close to his heart. Though a lot of other hobbits turned up their nose at it, sometimes even called him a tiny bit whacky.

He couldn't blame them, most of the plants were unknown, the smell unpleasant for them. No one in the Shire had ever heard about red garlic, licorice root, or carline thistle before. But for him, it was a treasure because he had gotten the seeds from Lady Galadriel. Even if the memories at his encounter with the elves of Lorien were bittersweet, he would never forget the kindness of their queen.

Rosie watched Sam leaving the house in a hurry after a fleetingly kiss onto her cheek, and she sighed. It was one of these days; even after all the years, it never got easier for him. Sometimes she wished he would talk about what had happened on his trip to the fiery mountain, with him, with Frodo, but all she knew was that it had changed everything.

The evil was gone, but also was the lightheartedness of the old days. Unfortunately, Frodo had never recovered completely, and when he finally decided that the best he could do was to leave the Shire behind, something in Sam was broken, too.

When he was out of sight, Rosie turned away from the window. "A rabbit-leg with dumplings," she thought, "his favorite meal." And a bouquet of jasmine; he loved the smell of it and said it reminded him of warm and peaceful summer days. This would hopefully cheer him up a bit.

Casey sighed while Delilah did go on and on. „You don't get it! I'm done with this shit.“

She looked at him full of disbelieve. „But it's David Letterman. He wants you as a guest in his nightshow. Everyone will talk about it.“

He breathed in deeply. „But I don't want people talk about me. All I want is to move on with my life. I want to graduate, go to photoschool, be a nature photographer.“

„You are such a stupid geek,“ Delilah huffed.

Casey smirked. „It's easier to be a geek than to live as a superhero.“
