„What did you do?“ Stokely stepped into Zeke's way when he just wanted to get into his GTO, her eyes sparkling wildly.
„Huh?“
„Casey is called into the principal's office because the coach found some pens of Scat in his locker. And everyone knows that he would never be that stupid.“
„No shit! This is too much," Zeke murmured.
„Says the guy who sells this stuff at the parking lot every day,“ Stokely huffed. „This is so low, even for you.“
„Wait! You can't think that I put the pens into Casey's locker.“
„Well, who else? You don't care about it who gets into trouble, as long as it's not you.“
Zeke narrowed his eyes. „I'm not an angel, for sure not. But I would never turn into this kind of an asshole,“ he said, his voice slightly shaking. „Casey saved my life; not only mine, by the way. He's someone special. And I could never hurt him.“
„Hm.“ Stokely stayed suspicious. „And why do you let it happen, that the jocks bully him every day anew? It would be so easy for you to stop them.“
Zeke kept quiet for a moment; finally he shook his head. „Casey is stronger than he looks like. He deals with it in his own way, and he would hate it if others start to play the knight in shining armor.“ He closed the door of the GTO with a loud bang and turned back to school. „But I guess this time it is different.“
„What are you gonna do?“
„Put some things straight. It cannot be that Casey's future will get ruined because some dumbheads think it so funny.“

It was about ten minutes later that Zeke stormed into the principal's office without even bothering of asking for permission, Jason Barrowman, one of the jocks, in tow. While coach Willis frowned annoyed, Mrs. Drake said: “Mr. Tyler, we will have to talk about your behavior later. But for now...“
Zeke's eyes fell on Casey; he could say that the boy had cried, and his anger raised up again. Smiling at him reassuringly, he pushed the reluctant player of the Hornets forward. Then he turned to the coach and the principal again, shaking his head. „I guess this shitass has something to tell, you should know, before making a big mistake.“
