Casey had always loved to stand up in the early morning to drive to the park. No one else was around, and he enjoyed the silence. Just sitting on a bench, watching the swans on the lake. Or listening to the birds who seemed to love the first light of the new day as much as he did.

This summer, though, everything had changed. Because one day, Zeke Tyler had turned up, dropping onto the bench beside Casey. First, he hadn't been sure if he did like this. Though Zeke was not one of the bullies from school, for sure, he didn't use to hang around with geeks. So, what was this supposed to mean?

They didn't talk, were just sharing the bench in silence. Only when it was time to go home, Zeke suddenly turned around and smiled. „See you tomorrow,“ he said.

And Casey's heart beat quicker.

„Do you think, this is a good idea,“ Zeke asked.

Casey looked up from the photo magazine he was reading. „Hm?“

„Delilah. It`s kind of understandable that you want a girlfriend like her; most guys would love to date the cheerleader queen from school. But it's Delilah; she's a bitch, and sooner or later, she will swallow you with skin and hair.“

„What are you talking about? Delilah, my girlfriend? What makes you think that?“

„I've seen you this morning. You kissed her.“

For a moment Casey looked dumbfound. „No, I don't.“ Finally he shook his head, chuckling slightly. „She kissed me, that's a difference. And I've told her that I'm not interested in playing her lap dog.“

„Smart!“ Zeke couldn't hide his grin. „I bet this was a shock for her.“

Casey shrugged. „She will get over it.“
