When Casey opened his eyes, he was alone. He needed a moment to realize that nothing he did remember only had been a dream.
His parents were not around for a whole weekend, and Zeke had invited him into his famous club in Akron. His first visit to a gay club; he had been unsure at first, but soon enough he started to enjoy it. For the first time he didn't have to hide his true self; no one laughed about him, teased or insulted him because of his geeky clothes. Or when he moved wildly to the music; he knew, he couldn't dance, but he loved it anyway. And then Zeke suddenly pulled him into his arms to kiss him, and it hadn't felt awkward in the slightest. More the opposite, Casey had never dared to hope that this would ever happen, and now it was as if all his dreams could come true.
Later Zeke looked at him questioningly. "I guess I could bring you home now."
Casey nodded. „Yes, you could. But my parents will not be back home before tomorrow evening."
:::
„I promise, I won't hurt you,“ Zeke had murmured into his ear. And he hadn't. Though it had been so different than Casey had always pictured it. Not only that Zeke was an experienced lover; he was careful and gentle, and he always made sure to give Casey all the time he needed. A 'no' was okay for him; he never tried to overstep the lines. In the early morning hours Casey drifted away in a deep sleep in Zeke's arms, tired, but happy like never before in his life.
But when he did wake up later; probably it was already afternoon, he was alone in Zeke's kingsized bed. He squeezed his eyes shut because of the sun, enjoying the warmth while thinking about the last night. His first time. With the most wanted guy from school. Not a dream. So hard to believe.
When he heard noises coming from the kitchen, he grabbed for his denim before he went downstairs. The backdoor was open; Zeke was leaning against the balustrade of the porch, wearing only his boxers, smoking. Casey's heartbeat quickened. God, he looked so hot. „Hey,“ he whispered.
Zeke jerked around. „Geez, fuck, why do you sneak around here,“ he yelled.
Casey paled; this felt as if someone had hit him right into the gut. One moment before he had felt so great as if he could hug the whole world. Now his cardhouse broke down, and he found himself back in reality. Fighting back his tears, no, he wouldn't cry now, later, when he was back in his small but comfy room, then he could allow himself this weakness. He turned around and ran upstairs again, to collect the rest of his stuff.
Inwardly he was angry about himself. How could he be so stupid? He should have known it, that someone like Zeke Tyler was never seriously interested in him. He was a one-night-stand, an adventure. All Zeke had said and done had meant nothing. Probably he had secretly laughed about his inexperience and greenness.
„Case?“
„I am already gone,“ he murmured, looking for his backpack.
„No! Wait!“ The voice surprisingly low, but he wouldn't fall for that again. „I'm sorry that I did yell at you. It was...“
„It's okay. I understand.“ It was hard, but he somehow managed it that his voice wasn't trembling. „No drama. You never made any promises. My fault.“
„Oh shit.“ Zeke grabbed his arm before he could turn around and escape from this embarrassing situation. „You get everything wrong. Gimme a minute, please. I am not good with words, but... This is new for me too. I always kept others on distance; thought, that it is better that way. People only hurt you when you let them too deep into your life.“
„So true,“ Casey thought, filled with bitterness.
„With you it is different. For the first time, I want someone to stay in my life. It scares me to death because it is like an overkill of feelings. I don't know how to deal with it, but I'm willing to try. For you, I would try.“ Zeke smirked. "But, sorry, I guess, it will need some time. I can understand when you are not willing to deal with this."
„Oh.“ Casey kept quiet, his thoughts rasing; this was something he would never have expected. For him, Zeke had always been the one who did have everything under control; nothing could throw him off the track. Obviously he had been wrong, and he wondered what else Zeke did hide behind the mask he used to wear. Was he ready to find out? Of course, he was, he never had been a coward, no matter what others thought about him; he had learned to fight for what he wanted. And he wanted Zeke, not only for one night.
When he looked up he noticed the uneasiness in Zeke's eyes and smiled. "Well, I guess now it's up to me to give you the time you need. I can wait until you are ready for more."
