Title: Tragic Homecoming
Character: Carrie Mathison, mention of Nicholas Brody
Rating: PG13
Words: 200
Finished: January 2019
:::
Carrie allowed herself to turn her eyes away for a split second. Sometimes, the horror Brody had to endure since he was home again was hard to endure. Most of the days he put on a mask for the media. Played the hero, an idol for every young soldier. Missed for over eight years, tormented and isolated by his kidnappers. His homecoming had been unexpected. But no one seemed to put his integrity into question.
No one but her. What, if she was right, if he finally was broken down under the pressure and had been turned into a terrorist working for al-Qaida? What if there was only one reason why he was back now? The ultimate terror attack in America?
Carrie turned her eyes back to the screens in front of her. Brody had left the bedroom; his wife was still sitting on the bed, looking lost. He was cowering in the corner of the kitchen now, talking to himself, while his body shook visibly. She noticed the scars on his chest, which would always remind him of the tragedy of his life.
This sight almost made Carrie feel sorry for him. Almost. The nagging thought of an upcoming danger was much too present.
