Alex Cabot watched Elliot leave the office and sighed. „I hate doing this,“ she murmured, apologizing. „But he overstepped the lines once too often.“

Oliva eyed her thoughtfully. „Sometimes you don't have a choice.“

„He's a detective. He knows the rules.“

„If he would have followed them, a little girl might be dead now.“

„I know. And I'm glad she isn't. But I wish there would have been a different way to save her life. A way that would not force me to make a decision. To choose between the law and a friend is never easy.“
