Rosie took in the smell of the exotic herbs and hesitated. She had to admit that they made the meals even more delicious, but she still hesitated to use them regularly.

Sam brought home the seed from his dangerous journey with Frodo, a gift from Lady Galadriel, the elven queen. The times had been dark, the Shire laid waste. But only some months later, the garden of Bag End started to bloom again. The grass so green, most beautiful flowers, and productive fruit trees.

Yes, Rosie was thankful for this wonder. But the aroma of the herbs would always remind her of what she had almost lost.
