Don't go to the murky water,“ Smith murmured.
Kurdy hit the brake, looking at him suspiciously. „What are you talking about? We need to go back to the Mountain as quickly as possible, and it's a shortcut.“
Smith's face darkened while he stared at the small lake on the meadow right in front of them. „Rose warned me about it.“
„You are talking with your daughter?“ Kurdy cringed inwardly, not this again. „She's at school, about 50 miles away, isn't she?“
„I visited her last week.“ Smith shrugged, apologizing. „Sorry. I know how this sounds to you, but...“
„Most of the stuff you are talking about sounds pretty weird,“ Kurdy interrupted him. „I wish I could ignore it, but this already saved my ass twice for any reason. So, I guess it might be a good idea to take the long way through the woods. Just to be sure.“
