Casey stared out the window; the grey, rainy weather seemed to meet his mood exactly. The scholarship he had gotten for the expensive private photo school in New York had felt like all his dreams would come true, but it wasn't as great as he had thought. Only this morning, one of his teachers, Mr. Dorsen, who reminded him so much of coach Willis, the football coach at Herrington High, who had loved to humiliate him every time at gym, had looked at his photo collage he had worked for so hard during the last days, shaking his head, while he said: "I'm afraid it was the wrong decision to offer you a chance at this school, Mr. Connor, a city college in Ohio might fit better to your photographic skills." At least he could hold back his tears until he had reached his room.

A knock at his door made him frown; it was not that the other students were interested in his company; they were not mean or even bullied him, like it had happened at highschool so often; it just felt as if they had nothing in common. He had always been a geek who didn't fit in, a dreamer who didn't like sports but art and photography; he had hoped it would be different here, but never before had he felt so lonely.

To his surprise, the door was opened, and the boy, stepping into the room with a wide grin on his face, made him jump up. "You," he stammered, not sure if he wasn't only dreaming, "what are you doing here?"

"Hey, geek boy," Zeke said, pulling him into his arms, "your mom told me she is a bit worried because you didn't call her last week; so, here I am; what's going on, tell me!"

Title: Having a bad day
Character: Zeke Tyler, Casey Connor
Word Count: 189
Prompt: having a bad day / 3x3 sentences
Rating: PG13

"What's wrong with you today," Casey asked, annoyed, when Zeke turned the TV on, grabbing another beer, "if you want me to go home, just say it."

"Oh, stop playing the drama queen," the older boy huffed, rolling his eyes, "my day was not the best; don't make it even worse."

"Okay," Casey answered," I get it, but that's not a reason to be rude; why don't you tell me about it?"

Zeke turned to him, frowning: "Because this is none of your business; I can deal with my stuff alone."

Casey kept quiet for a moment, fighting with tears; finally, he murmured: "That's the problem with you; you always want to deal with everything alone. But that's not what you do when you are in a serious relationship; you know, you should trust your partner with whatever problem you have."

"No shit, Casey," Zeke cringed slightly," I am sorry, I never meant to hurt you; you know this, don't you? I do trust you more than anyone else before." And still slightly reluctantly, he started to talk about his day, noticing, surprised, all the tension vanishing after some time.

Title: Brilliant Mind
Character: Zeke Tyler, Casey Connor
Word Count: 130
Prompt: betraying yourself / 3x3 sentences
Rating: PG13

:::

"When will you stop betraying yourself," Zeke asked, watching Casey frantically gathering the photos from the last football game.

He closed his locker and turned to the older boy, frowning. "What are you talking about? Delilah needs these photos for the next edition of the school magazine."

"But she is only using you. All the promises she makes will never come true; she is interested in your fame and your talent, but she never means you."

Casey looked at the photos in his hands and finally shrugged: "Do I have a choice?"

"Sure," Zeke smirked, "you have the most brilliant mind I've ever seen; you don't need her to go your way."

When he left, Casey stared after him, his heart beating wildly; had Zeke Tyler just called him brilliant?

Title: Bitterly cold
Character: Zeke Tyler, Casey Connor
Word Count: 171
Prompt: dealing with a bitterly cold day / 2x3 sentences
Rating: PG13

:::

"Geez, what the hell are you doing here; you will freeze to death."

Casey jerked around, staring at the bigger boy with his blue eyes wide open; yes, it was a bitterly cold day, an no one thinking clearly would came up with the idea that, even with bobble hat, scarf, and woolen mittens, a trip into the woods would be fun. But Casey had desperately needed some time all for him alone; had hoped, the cold would help to get his confusing thoughts sorted out again. The last one he wanted to run into had been Zeke Tyler, not after what had happened last Friday at the school's bleachers.

"C'mon, I'm gonna give you a ride; we could go to my garage; you look as if you need to warm up."

"Why don't you mind your own business," Casey murmured, well-knowing that his voice was shaking.

"Because I care for you; despite all the rumors at school, I am not kissing everyone, you know," Zeke answered, bent forward to place a fleeting kiss on Casey's cold cheek.

Four Jeremiah (TV) / One The Faculty Minifills - written for 3 Sentence Ficathon

Jeremiah

Prompt: there will be peace when you are done
Words: 94

"You need to get up," Smith said, watching his friend, who was cowering on his bed, a half-empty bottle of whiskey in his hands,"the skinheads are coming closer, and Markus needs his best men at the sharp end."

Kurdy stared at him with blurry eyes:" I am sick of fighting; since Elizabeth is gone, life is only pain, so why don't you ask your God to let me die in peace?"

"He is not interested in my wishes; nor in yours," Smith answered," and he says: there will be peace when everything is done."

:::

Prompt: back to the place we used to call home
Words: 83

"Home," Kurdy asked," what kind of home? The world is turned around; I will never be able to go back to the place I called home once because it's gone forever."

Smith smiled sadly: "At least you can remember your past, your family, your friends, your home; this is much more than I have; all I can remember is a dark night when I decided to end my life; but I did wake up again, with a great emptiness in my head, besides of God's voice."

:::

Prompt: Under a blood-red sky a crowd has gathered in black and white
Words: 64

The voice in his head got louder. "Under the blood-red sky, the crowd will gather," God said, "and the world will be covered in black and white dust before the day ends."

Smith shuddered; another mystery prophecy he wasn't able to understand; all he could hope for was that this time it wouldn't end with death and pain for the people he cared about.

:::

Prompt: it's only a dream
Words: 86

Jeremiah opened his eyes; Libby was flailing with her arms wildly, groaning intelligible words. Gently, he pulled her in his arms, whispering: "Hey, hey, it's okay, it's only a dream; you are safe; I won't let it happen that someone hurts you again."

Hiding the tears welling up under her closed eyelids, her breathing started to even while she buried her head on his shoulder; she knew well enough her nightmares were all too real, and soon enough also Jeremiah would have to face the truth.

The Faculty

Zeke dropped down at the bleachers bench beside Casey: "Hey, what's going on today?"

The boy put his book down, turning to his friend, grinning wide. "The sun is shining; Mr. Brown told me this morning that with my talent, I have the best chance to get a scholarship at a private photo school; Gabe and the other jocks are at a training camp for a week, so, I guess, I'm gonna have a good day."
