Feeling exhausted, Kurdy squeezed his eyes shut. „I can't believe this happened only some miles from the Mountain. It will never be the same again to live here.“
Carefully, Smith put the skull down. „It happened long before Markus came here, throughout the first weeks of the Big Death. People weren't ready to deal with it. What they finally did was not cruel but desperation.“
Kurdy let his eyes wander to the hole filled with bones. „Where do you know this from?“
„I don't, but God knows. He sent me here, to finally give them the peace they deserve.“
