Title: Houseplants
Characters: Zeke Tyler, Casey Connor

Slightly hesitating, Casey opened the door to Zeke's garage. He had been here once, months ago, during the night of the alien incident, and he didn't like to remember the horror. But Zeke had insisted that they met here today. „It's about time to get over it, Casey. And my new computer works much faster than the old ones in the school library. We will do the homework in half the time, and after that, we can order a pizza and watch The Big Bang Theory.“
He had agreed because Zeke probably was right, but his heart was pondering wildly when he stepped over the doorsill now. Surprised, he coughed. „Woah. Where is the lab gone?“
Grinning, Zeke turned around. „I thought it might be time for something new. A place to hang around with friends.“
Casey looked around in the comfy room. An oversized couch, a TV with a video player, a desk with the new high-tech computer. Movie posters on the walls. And lots of houseplants. Never before had he seen so many of them in one place. It felt a bit weird, so not Zeke, but he had to admit he loved it.
„Hope you like it. You told me once that you like plants,“ Zeke tore him out of his thoughts, „because it reminds you of your Grandmother's old house. Sadly, your mom is allergic to most of them, so you can't have some at home.“
Casey blinked. „You still remember this?“
„Hrm!“ Zeke shrugged. „Crossed my mind when I thought about what to do with the garage. Nothing big.“ While he turned to the computer quickly to start it, Casey knew it was better to let it rest for now. Zeke was like that; not a guy for big feelings.
„So, what do you think? Where can we start best with today's homework,“ he asked instead.
