Title: Hitchhiking

Zeke slowed down when he noticed the boy standing at the roadside, stretching his hand out. He looked young in his much too wide jeans, the cap of his sweatjacket pulled over his head, but it didn't offer much protection from the heavy rain, which was pouring down for hours already.
He hit the break, stopped the GTO, and the boy stepped closer, bending down to the window. For a split of a second a slight grin turned up on his face; Zeke noticed a small teeth gasp. And a black eye. „Hey, where should it go?“
The boy shrugged. „Don't care. Just away from here.“ He sounded tired as if he had already been standing here for much too long.
Zeke nodded slowly. „Okay. Hop in.“
The boy opened the door and threw his backpack on the backseat but refused to let go of the small, black bag around his neck, pressing it against his chest like it hid a valuable treasure. „Thanks.“ He rested his head against the neck support, closing his eyes.
Another glance told Zeke that it was not time for many questions. „Name is Zeke,“ he said, starting the engine again. „Hope you don't mind a bit of Nirvana. Best music for driving.“
