„The chemistry between you two is just too interesting,“ Stokely said.
„What are you talking about?“
„You and Zeke, of course.“
Stiffening in every movement, Casey blushed involuntarily. „There is no chemistry between us. We are lab partners, that's all.“
Stokely shrugged. „I know. And you hang around at the bleachers every lunch break lately. You can barely take your eyes off him. And the way Zeke glares at the jocks when they get closer to you speaks volumes. Usually, he doesn't care about anyone but himself.“
Casey licked his dry lips. „That's all only in your imagination.“
„I don't think it's anything wrong with it,“ Stokely said. „Rather the direct opposite. You two could be good for each other. Zeke could have an eye on you, and you could keep him grounded.“
„Zeke will die laughing when he hears about your wild theory. But maybe he will kill you first.“
Stokely grinned. "We will see," she said.
