„I still need some good photos for my portfolio,“ Casey sighed, „and the time is running out.“
„You took tons of it last weekend,“ Zeke said, driving the GTO into the mall's parking lot. „They can't all be that bad.“
„They are not. I guess I can use the one or the other. But I have to send at least one or two black-and-white photos, which turns out to be pretty tricky.“
„Oh, yeah?“ Zeke cut off the motor, turning to his friend. „I can't believe that. You are the best photographer I know.“
„Hm. And how many photographers do you know?“ Casey smiled. „Thanks, I know you only try to raise my spirit, but it is not that easy. I'm not familiar with this kind of photography, and no matter how hard I try, my pics are... lifeless.
The shots from last weekend in the woods are great; the clouds in the sky, the sunrise. The colorful leaves falling from the trees. They tell stories all by themselves. But it's so much more challenging to breathe life into a black-and-white photo.“
„I can't believe that you are giving up so quickly.“
Casey shrugged. „Well, I don't. Honestly, I took some pictures of my mom, which are not bad. But how embarrassing is this? I am 19 years old, and I'm applying to one of the best photo schools... with a photo of my mom?“
„Oh. Now I get the problem. You are looking for a handsome, young model like Josh Hartnett.“
Casey laughed. „That would be great. But I'm afraid he's unavailable because he's filming this new movie. Any other suggestions? And don't say Brad Pitt; he's a douchebag.“
Zeke grinned. „What's with me?“
„You would...“ Casey breathed in deeply. „Well, to be honest, I've already thought about this. But you hate being photographed; you didn't even show up for the team photos of the Hornets.“
„I just wasn't willing to dance after Delilah's pipe. For you... well, I guess I am willing to make an exception. After all, I can't stand in the way of your career as a famous photographer.“
